3:57: Palat netted his second of the game to put Tampa Bay in the lead. | TB 6, NJ 5

6:40: Shots on goal are 41-20 for the Devils.

12:15: McElhinney made a great stop on Andy Greene who was all alone in front. The play then went back the other way and Cirelli’s shot went off Mathieu Joseph in front to tie the game once again. | NJ 5, TB 5

17:15: Lightning draw back within a goal as Jan Rutta’s blast from the point goes off someone in front. NJ 5, TB 4

18:47: SAMI SCORES! Vatanen takes advantage of some hard work by Wayne Simmonds, picks up the puck at the right circle and walks in, deking out McElhinney and making it a 5-3 game. | NJ 5, TB 3

SECOND PERIOD

0.0: Shots on goal are 26-16 after 40 minutes.

4:11: Coming out of the box, Sergachev broke in alone and fired low blocker side but Schneider made the save.

6:23: Mikhail Sergachev got called for interference, sending the Devils to their fifth power play of the night.

6:44: BRATT AGAIN! 4-3! Bratt wrists a point shot through a screen to put the Devils in the lead | NJ 4, TB 3

7:43: PALMS AGAIN! Palmieri redirected a shot from Will Butcher to tie the game up only 29 seconds later. | NJ 3, TB 3

8:12: Brayden Point picked up a loose puck in front and put it in past Schneider to put the Bolts up by one. | TB 3, NJ 2

13:55: Just as the penalty expired, the Devils got a ton of pucks to the net. Damon Severson’s point shot was stopped in front, as was Hischier’s rebound. Jesper Bratt then swooped down and put it in past McElhinney to tie the game. | NJ 2, TB 2

15:55: Matt Tennyson was crushed into the boards by Mathieu Joseph, resulting in a fourth Devils man advantage.

20:00: Period two has begun.

FIRST PERIOD

0.0: Shots on goal were 11-9 for the Devils after one.

1:48: Ryan McDonagh goes to the box for tripping, giving the Devils their third power play of the night.

2:45: Alex Killorn spun and fired a shot high under the crossbar to put the Lightning in front. | TB 2, NJ 1

4:32: Hischier gets called for holding to give the Lightning their first man advantage of the evening.

7:58: Shots on goal were even at 8-8 with eight minutes to go in the first.

10:32: Ondrej Palat blasted a one-timer on a Shattenkirk feed, completing a tic-tac-toe play to tie it. | NJ 1, TB 1

11:14: Schneider makes a nice glove stop on a blast from Stamkos at the right circle.

13:44: Jan Rutta got sent to the box to send the Devils back on the power play.

18:50: PALMS! Quick hands in front by Wayne Simmonds resulted in a backhand in front to Kyle Palmieri, who made no mistake quickly rifling the puck past Lightning starting goaltender Curtis McElhinney to make it a 1-0 game. | NJ 1, TB 0

19:27: Kevin Shattenkirk took a delay of game penalty for clearing the puck over the glass to give the Devils an early power play.
