THIRD PERIOD

0.0: Devils hold on to win! Final shot count: 31-27 for Vancouver.

18.8: Devils ice the puck.

1:58: Markstrom was pulled for the extra attacker.

4:05: Canucks continued to press for the equalizer. Shots were now 30-26.

7:20: Shots were 27-26 for Vancouver with just over seven minutes to go in the third.

10:03: Coming out of the box, Hall had a partial breakaway. His shot was stopped by Markstrom but after that the puck went into the net as Alex Edler slid into his own goaltender. After a brief discussion and review, it was ruled no goal. The puck slid over the line after the net was dislodged.

12:16: Taylor Hall was called for embellishment after a check into the boards by Elias Pettersson, giving the Canucks a power play almost eight minutes into the third.

13:46: Just over six minutes into the third, shots on goal were 25-23 for the Canucks.

17:03: Simmonds split the defense and tried to jam the puck past Markstrom but the Canucks netminder was equal to the task.

20:00: Period three has started.

SECOND PERIOD

0.0: Canucks had a lot of pressure in the late portion of the middle frame as they pressed for the equalizer but Blackwood was able to hold the fort and keep the Devils up by one heading into the break. Shots after 40 minutes were 22-21 for Vancouver.

7:20: Twenty-four seconds into the man advantage, Vancouver scored. Brock Boeser’s shot from the right circle beat Blackwood to the blocker side. | NJ 2, VAN 1

7:44: Matt Tennyson was called for holding with less than eight minutes to go in the second, giving the Canucks power play a chance to make it a one-goal game.

10:49: Markstrom made a stop off the rush on Hall and the play came back the other way where Blackwood was solid in turning away Tim Schaller.

13:43: Markstrom made a nice glove grab off a quick shot from Zacha. Shots were 15-10 for the Devils just over six minutes in.

20:00: Period two has started.

FIRST PERIOD

0.0: After one, shots on goal were 11-8 for the Devils.

3:26: Markstrom made a nice stop on a redirection in close by Miles Wood.

5:00: Canucks have some great puck movement and zone time on the power play but are unable to solve Blackwood.

7:12: P.K. Subban received two minutes for tripping, resulting in Vancouver’s first man advantage of the night.

7:50: THAT’S TWO! Twenty-two seconds later, Damon Severson’s blast from the point found its way past a screened Markstrom after being tipped by Jesper Bratt to extend the Devils’ lead. | NJ 2, VAN 0

8:12: SIMMONDS PPG! After a nice cross-ice feed from Taylor Hall over to Kyle Palmieri was redirected on goal, Wayne Simmonds picked up a loose puck at the side of the net and roofed it under the cross-bar to put the Devils up by one. | NJ 1, VAN 0

9:10: Canucks take another penalty, Jordie Benn for cross-checking.

9:52: Hall’s rebound snuck under the pad of Markstrom but was retrieved off the goal line by Tyler Myers.

11:35: The first penalty of the game came when Chris Tanev was called for slashing, sending the Devils to the power play.

15:23: Almost five minutes in, shots on goal were 3-1 for the Devils.

19:04: Devils had a great chance in the opening minute when Kyle Palmieri rifled a shot from the slot but Jacob Markstrom got his glove on it.

20:00: Today’s game is now underway.
