9:04: Victor Oloffsson scores for Buffalo to give the home team a 3-2 lead.
9:38: Ty Smith sent to the box for hooking. Devils penalty kill have their fourth call up of the night.
11:42: Wedgewood holds off the Sabres from scoring on the rush. NJD 2, BUF 2
12:34: Palmieri’s shot hits off Ullmark’s pad as Palmieri looks for his first goal of the season.
15:05: Plenty of shots and a lot of zone time for the Devils, but they are unable to score during the man-advantage.
17:05: Ullmark comes up big on Hughes’s shot, however Buffalo is called for delay of game as the Devils go back on the power play.
17:42: Buffalo responds quickly and scores to make it a tied game once again.
18:23: Johnsson scores his first as a Devil to make it 2-1 NJ! Hughes with the primary assist. NJD 2, BUF 1

SECOND PERIOD
0:00: Second period ends with both teams tied at 1.
1:25: Ty Smith fires a shot from the point and scores on the power play. Tied game at 1!
1:49: Buffalo’s Staal sent to the box for hooking. Devils are back on the power play.
2:04: Devils have two good chances by Bratt and Hughes. However, neither is able to score.
3:53: Sabres have a long range shot on Wedgewood that the Devils goaltender saves under his pads to keep the home team from increasing their lead. BUF 1, NJD 0
5:55: Penalty killed, both teams at even strength.
7:55: Hughes stopped on a shot, Taylor Hall called for holding. New Jersey heads to the power play.
10:57: Staal scores for the Sabres, Buffalo opens the scoring. BUF 1, NJD 0
12:02: Devils penalty kill comes up big again and stops Buffalo from scoring on their man-advantage.
13:12: Big save by Wedgewood to keep it 0-0 as Buffalo is on the power play.
14:02: Devils back on the penalty kill, this time Miles Wood sent to the box.
16:05: Hughes leads a strong offensive effort for the Devils. Two close shots including one off the cross bar. Although they didn’t score, it was a great period of 5v5 play by the Devils.
17:03: Devils kill the penalty without letting Buffalo score.
18:05: Devils get a chance shorthanded but unable to score.
19:03: Johnsson sent back to the box for holding, Devils penalty kill back to work.

FIRST PERIOD
0:00: A late offensive push by the Devils gave them some legitimate opportunities late in the period. Although they were unable to score, the Devils have recovered from a slow start.
0:02: Devils pull Wedgewood for a last chance in the final seconds of the first period.
1:46: Gusev tries to go five-hole but Buffalo’s goalie Linus Ullmark had a remarkable save to keep New Jersey from scoring.
5:02: Buffalo leading New Jersey 5-2 in shots.
5:45: Both penalties killed off, back to even strength.
6:04: Devils have kept control in the offensive zone almost the entire two-man advantage. Working the puck around, had good looks, but Buffalo cleared the puck.
7:45: Bratt knocked down, Sabres called for two penalties. Devils have their first power play of the game, 5 on 3.
10:45: Penalty killed off, back to even strength.
11:15: Sharangovich gets the puck cleared and tries to go in for a chance, but he is pushed down by a Buffalo defender.
11:43: Wedgewood comes up big with a save on the penalty kill.
12:45: Johnsson called for interference, Devils go on the penalty kill.
14:30: Pavel Zacha gets a cross-ice pass, has a quick wrist shot on net, stopped by Buffalo.
17:00: Buffalo putting a lot of pressure on the Devils early in the first period.
